JOB SUMMARY
The PI Information Analyst is responsible for providing accurate and timely information needed to support quality, performance and process improvement activities. This position will identify, develop, and manage appropriate databases and quality/PI information using appropriate analytical tools and methodologies to provide Carondelet Health with analyses of quality data in a changing and dynamic environment. The Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, tracking, distributing, and communicating relevant information related to quality and performance improvement.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Determines the informational needs of the organization to support quality initiatives. The Analyst will also coordinate the necessary arrangements to access the relevant information on behalf of Carondelet Health. When necessary, create proxies or substitutes for hard to get or costly information.

Recommends and utilizes the necessary analytical tools and techniques (e.g., MedStat, Access, mapping software, etc.) to support organizational and departmental objectives.

Develops and manages quality information databases. Actively mines databases to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Provides appropriate analysis and reporting of information such as hospital department statistics, competitive data, and benchmark information.

Utilizes knowledge to oversee the creation of database applications and database maintenance, establishing accuracy and validity of data so the generated results facilitate organizational improvement

Oversees the submissions of all inpatient and outpatient files utilized for the clinical, resource databases, guaranteeing timeliness and accuracy.

Monitors, recognizes, and reacts to trends and factors essential to planning. This includes trends in the internal operations of the hospital, of the health care industry at the local, regional, and national level, and any other environmental trends that could impact Carondelet Health and/or its subsidiaries.

Responsible for collecting, analyzing, tracking, distributing, and communicating relevant quality and PI information. Also responsible for training end-users regarding the use of various quality databases.

Thoroughly understands the architecture of the Hospital computer system and various file segments and interfacing systems to assure data can be utilized to assist in operational decision-making. Coordinates the integration of information with Carondelet Health's Information Services Department and respective quality database vendors, such as Premier, to access necessary host computer-based information.

Oversees the aggregation and submission of data, analysis of reports and provides support and coaching of Managers and Directors to develop action plans to improve performance.

Keeps abreast of all aspects of decision support, The Joint Commission, Health Information Management, and other regulatory bodies. Maintains knowledge of DRGs, APR-DRGs, MS-DRG’s, ICD-9-CM, and CPT methodologies in order to provide the appropriate data derived from them.

Maintains continual awareness of proposed and approved changes in all public reporting initiatives and regulatory requirements.

Serves as a decision support resource to senior leadership and department staff regarding data reliability, analysis, and quality information needs. Participates as a member of a collaborative team to support the initiatives and activities of the department and organization.

Maintains an open, honest, and collaborative working relationship with Carondelet Health employees and subsidiaries, volunteers, senior leadership, medical staff, and community.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/TRAINING

Bachelor Degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field

Graduate Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (with minimum requirements indicated as appropriate)

3 years quality or comparable database or strategic data analysis experience; 2 years healthcare experience preferred

Advanced competency using the following computer software: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access

Knowledge of The Joint Commission and Health Information Management regulations

Knowledge of health regulatory field in KS and MO, and MedStat or other planning software preferred

Knowledge of DRGs, APR-DRGs, MS-DRG’s, ICD-9-CM, and CPT methodologies

High level of analytical skills necessary to design and develop analytical processes, and interpret complex data

Knowledge of quality and performance improvement processes and resources

Excellent oral and written communication skills
