Job Summary & Essential Functions:

Abrasive blast all types and sizes of freight cars, materials, parts.All work performed must meet current AAR and quality assurance guidelines and requirements.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Prepares railcars for interior and exterior blast and coatings/paint by masking, covering, taping and removing railcar parts that not to be blasted or painted
• Blasts the exterior and interior of railcars of old paint, lining, rust, dirt, and grease using hand controlled guns and hoses
• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs
• Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
• Ensure AAR quality assurance standards are met
• Follow all safety rules and procedures
• Interact with crew members and supervisors in a team environment
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner
• Comply with the established safety policies and support continuing awareness for safety
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Knowledge of abrasive blast, spray guns, air line, spray tips, mil gauge, respirators
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders and work in confined spaces
• Eye-Hand coordination
• Attention to details

Required Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent is desired
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Prior abrasive blast experience is a plus
