Overview

General Pediatrics

In addition to providing some direct primary care to patients in a clinical role at Broadway, the APRN Coordinator provides leadership and development of APPs for both General Academic Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. General Academic Pediatric APPs provide care at Broadway and Children's Mercy Vibrant for patients from newborn through adolescence with a medical home model focusing on continuity and quality outcomes. The Adolescent Medicine APPs care for patients at Synergy, Broadway, and College Boulevard with an emphasis on providing high quality care through focused visits to the adolescent population for their individual needs.

An APRN obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN demonstrates professional leadership and actively participates in quality / outcomes improvement activities, clinical research, and organizational development. The nurse practitioner coordinator assists in the supervision of the APRNs in the department and provides them leadership.

At Children's Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. A successful candidate for this position will join us as we strive to create a workplace that reflects the community we serve, as well as our core values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team and integrity.

Additionally, it's important to us that we remain transparent with all potential job candidates. Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve, as well as the Children's Mercy staff, we want to let you know that the seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccines are a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you become a finalist for this position, and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
