Company Overview

Our Mission:
To enhance the health of the community by serving as the leader in providing compassionate, comprehensive, and cost-effective nursing care and preventative health services to the young and old alike, regardless of their economic circumstances.

Who We Are:
Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency (MVNA) is a nonprofit home health and public health care provider in the Twin Cities. Our skilled nurses care for infants in their first days after birth to people in their final stages of life.

As members of the Minnesota Home Care Association, we develop programs to ensure healthier and safer environments and promote positive lifestyles and life-choices for the individuals and families we serve. Many of our clients are referred by other public health organizations with diagnoses that range from postpartum to chronic or complicated health conditions.

Under the guidance of CEO Mary Ann Blade, a nurse herself, MVNA has become the largest public health home visiting nurse service in Minnesota. MVNA employs more than 150 staff, including Public Health Certified Nurses (PHN), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Home Health Aides, Homemakers and Interpreters. Our staff performs more than 73,000 visits throughout Hennepin County annually, caring for individuals in their home.

We fulfill our mission, “Care for All,” by providing care each year to those individuals who would otherwise not receive nursing care. Many of our clients are at high risk for critical social and health issues. We also accept Medicare and most major insurance plans, and offer a sliding fee scale. To those who qualify, we have United Way funds and donations from the community.

MVNA helps fund its charity care each year with net proceeds from our annual flu vaccination program. Our nurses annually administer more than 153,000 flu and pneumonia shots through clinics at area businesses, grocery stores and other locations. We’re proud that our flu shot clinics help give Minnesota one of the highest vaccination rates in the country.
